Oenophile’s Dream
Cabinetry & Customization: Ridgefield CT
A powerful storm was the genesis of this Ridgefield custom cabinetry project. An avid wine collector saw an opportunity when his pre-1900 basement flooded. After I completed the flooding remediation, I designed and hand-built a wood and brick wine cellar, which holds 4,500 bottles and is climate controlled, holding steady at 55° and 60% humidity year-round. The exposed brick keystone arch evokes an Old World aesthetic. The wine racks are made of redwood and the rich heavy door is alder wood. Old wine box lids and redwood comprise the ceiling.
